District Governor’s Message

October 2026

Dear Lions and Leos,

As we continue serving in October, our theme, “Service: Our Blessing, Our Legacy, Our Future,” continues to guide our work. Everything we do begins with service. Service is our identity. Service is our credibility. Service is our invitation. When clubs serve visibly and meaningfully, people don’t just notice—they want to be part of it.

I have begun my club visits, and I welcome the opportunity to meet with members, hear about your achievements and understand the challenges you face. These visits allow us to review your progress early in the Lionistic year and identify where District support can help. I encourage each club to approach these discussions openly, sharing both the successes we can learn from and the concerns we can address together.

October’s emphasis on mental health awareness reminds us that service includes caring for the emotional wellbeing of our communities and our fellow members. As we observe World Mental Health Day, let us encourage conversations, challenge stigma and support initiatives that help people feel heard and valued. Within our clubs, taking time to listen and check on one another is also an expression of service.

The International President’s Vision Week of Service provides another opportunity to turn our commitment into action. I encourage clubs to undertake meaningful vision projects, work with community partners and involve our Leos. Please report your activities and share your stories so that the impact of our service reaches beyond those directly involved.

October is also a month to give renewed attention to membership growth and retention. Our goal must be to welcome more new members while reducing membership drops. Recruitment and retention require consistent effort: inviting people to serve alongside us, welcoming them warmly, involving them in meaningful activities and ensuring that every member feels appreciated.

When 60B leaders focus, Lions stay. When Lions stay, communities trust us. And when communities trust us, people join.

This connection places a responsibility on every leader. Strong clubs listen to their members, communicate clearly, share responsibilities and build fellowship around purposeful service. As we advance Mission 1.5, let us give people a reason to join and an equally strong reason to remain.

Our commitment to service also calls for continued support of LCIF. I urge clubs and members to make their contributions and help us progress towards our District goals. At the same time, let us invest in our future through the Leo movement, leadership development and opportunities for young people to serve. Please also encourage participation in the Peace Poster Contest and take advantage of the RISE Club Excellence Programme training on October 17 and 18, together with the Grant Committee’s capacity-building opportunities.

In November, we will review where we are, celebrate our successes, examine our challenges and carve a practical path towards further achievement. Effective management requires us to plan, act, review our results and adjust where necessary. Our review will compare progress with the District Goals and help us focus our efforts where they are most needed.

Our Second Cabinet Meeting will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2026, the last Sunday in November. I encourage Cabinet members and District Committees to prepare clear updates on their achievements, challenges and proposed next steps.

Thank you, Lions and Leos, for your dedication. Let us continue to serve with compassion, lead with purpose and strengthen the bonds that sustain our clubs and communities.

Together we Rise.
